2026 WAIS Workshop
Thirty-Third Annual WAIS Workshop
Northern Virginia 4-H Educational and Conference Center
Front Royal, VA USA
The 2026 WAIS Workshop will take place a new venue in the DC area: the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational and Conference Center. This NSF- and NASA-sponsored workshop hosts transdisciplinary and societally critical science focused on marine ice-sheet and adjacent Earth systems, with particular emphasis on the West Antarctic Ice Sheet and how it impacts and reshapes global coastlines, including our host island’s. The 2026 workshop is hosted by the WAIS Workshop Organizing Committee (Knut Christianson, David Lilien, Mickey MacKie, Peter Neff, Matt Siegfried, Tyler Sutterley, Ryan Venturelli).
The 2026 workshop begins with an icebreaker pizza dinner on Monday evening, September 28. Sessions are organized by topic, with keynote speakers for some sessions, followed by contributed talks and concluding with a panel discussion. Poster sessions will be held separately. We anticipate about 35-40 talks. The formal workshop agenda will end at 5 pm on Wednesday, September 30.
